Does “being more visible” online feel like any (of all) of the following emojis? —> 😭😩😵💫🤬
If so, you’re in the right place.
The online business and social media world is changing…and fast.
New social media platforms seemingly burst onto the scene in a blaze of glory overnight, only to become the next “it thing” you “have to” try (and then, master, show up on consistently and ensure you’re forever-adapting to). It’s a lot, right?
Well, I’m here to relieve a bit of the pressure.
You don’t have to be online 24/7 and/or treat social media like a full-time job to see major results.
Instead, you can simply become more be strategic about when (and how often) you show up, so you can spend more time doing what you love–whether that’s coaching soulmate clients, hosting interactive live webinars (or retreats in Tulum complete with luxe cocktail parties) or you know, soaking up all the life that exists outside your business.
All you need to know are a few smart-yet-simple visibility strategies. (Which, yes, I’m about to divulge.)
Ready to be “all over” social media, without spending all your time with your eyes & thumbs glued to your phone?
Tip #1. Write (and Repurpose) ONE Piece of Juicy Long-Form Content
In a world littered with 280-character tweets (or Threads) and 10-second videos, how about trying a new, less mentally-taxing approach? My suggestion: Commit to creating ONE piece of comprehensive, detailed & wildly valuable long-form content a month, then repurpose it into 5-25+ other pieces of content to use on 2-3 other platforms, all month long.
This could be a blog post, an in-depth article or even a podcast episode or YouTube video. (It could even be longer, value-packed email to your list.) As long as it provides substantial value for your ideal clients and aligns with your business goals, it’s all good. For example, you might transform the key points into multiple social media captions for Instagram or Facebook (you can even copy and paste directly from your long-form content) or create engaging images from any eye-opening quotes or statistics for Instagram or Pinterest (or even a sound bite for an IG Story or Reel!).
Focusing on long-form content–rather than worrying about coming up with 30-60 wildly creative & high-converting Instagram captions (and eye-catching images–yeesh!)– is much simpler, don’t you think?
Tip #2. Create a “Remix, Re-use or Repurpose” Content Plan
Whether you adopt tip #1 or not, I highly suggest creating a “content repurposing” plan for future content–yes, even it’s a “just” a social media post.
To do this, think about your preferred or primary content channel, where your audience is already hanging out online and which platforms would be easiest to repurpose content for.
For example, if you love whipping up Instagram carousel posts and captions, just think about how simple it is to 1.) share your post on Instagram Stories, 2.) re-post it as-is on your Facebook business page and 3.) transform your fave carousel image into a Pinterest pin.
Or, if you’re more of a video gal, you could take every TikTok you create and also upload it to Instagram Reels, your Instagram Stories (directly people to the full Reel) and ensure it’s posting to Facebook Reels, too. Simple, right?
Then, repeat every single you post – and voila! You’re showing up 3x more than you would if you just posted that one Instagram carousel and bolted.
If content repurposing isn’t your jam, there are lots of talented content repurpose experts out there–and even paid apps/service, like Repurpose.io that can help you out, too. (And if you need extra help in this department, I’ve got you: Check out my content repurposing guide here, where I walk you through how to effortlessly create 25+ social media posts.)
Oh and no matter what, be sure to tailor your new(ish) content to each platform’s individual guidelines (this is how you’ll get better reach–and more conversion, too!). And take advantage of all the features – like searchable hashtags on Instagram posts or responding to comments with video on TikTok.
Tip #3. Repurpose (or Repost) Old High-Converting Content
Instead of creating entirely new content for each platform every day, why not leverage the content you’ve already poured your heart, soul & smarts into?
Sure, you absolutely could create a brand new Instagram post every day of the week, until the end of time. 😉 Nobody’s going to stop you! But since information moves so quickly online these days, odds are most of your audience hasn’t even seen your shiniest content “gems.” (And even if they have, it’s probably been a while and they could do with a refresh!)
So, go ahead & check your analytics to see which specific posts have performed well in the past. (You can also peek inside your email marketing system, too.)
Once you know what peeps respond to, you have a few options:
- Repurpose the content for a new platform
- Reshare it or simply re-post it, as is.
- Polish it up or give it an upgrade. If the content could use a brush-up (like updating a statistic or including more relevant information), you can do that, too.
- Expand on it. You can even take older, high-converting social posts and expand on them – like creating a longer-form blog post out of one well-loved Instagram post.
- And in that same vein, you can shorten your content, too. Have a blog post people can’t get enough of? Repurpose it into several social media posts.
Tip #4. Automate Social Media Posting
Having loads of quality repurposed content at your fingertips is great, but what you really need to do to stay wildly visible while you honor your natural rhythms (and live life) is to heavily automate your content process.
There are two ways to do this: outsourcing or using an app. (Or both!)
With the right app(s) in your digital repertoire, you can post to all your social media channels multiple times a day (at optimal times for your audience, naturally), all while you’re actually out grabbing a matcha oat milk latte or coaching clients to major breakthroughs.
Because there are so many options, you’ll need to do your research to find the app(s) with the perfect features for you. Some apps post to all platforms, while others are specific to one platform (like Tailwind for Pinterest, for example).
Ideally, you’ll find an app that not only allows you to schedule posts well in advance, but also allows you to endlessly repurpose content so you don’t have to think about it.
Apps like SmarterQueue allow you to create a content bank or “content capsule” that will reshare your best content without you having to lift a pinky finger. You enter the content once, and it will re-share it forever and ever into perpetuity, at intervals you decide.
Talk about true time freedom–while still looking wildly active on social media!
Tip #5. Use Chatbots for Instant Interaction
Last but certainly not least, let’s talk engagement. When you’re receiving loads of comments, Likes and shares, sending a personalized message to every.single.interaction. can feel like a slog. While it’s still best practice in general to personally respond (and usually within a specific timeframe–like 20 minutes or so after posting), there are automated alternatives–and they work really well, especially in the right situations. For example, you could use a chatbot like ManyChat to instantly respond to comments, deliver freebies via DMs and more. This will make it *look* like you’re always “on,” but really, the robot’s doing the work for you. 🙂 (And if you’re clueless about ManyChat but want to learn more, I have a great DM sequence templates pack HERE!. There you go! Hope you found a few nuggets of visibility wisdom in the above tips. Can’t wait to see more of you on social media – even if you’re not actually creating more content!
